The New Year |
Many thanks to all music lovers and supporters for the most successful year in SKIP RECORDS' label history. Beside prestigious awards like the German Jazz ECHO for Omar Sosa "Ceremony" abd the Hamburg Music Award for Tingvall trio / Vägen we were especially excited about the fans coming out the the numerous concerts of our artists across the world. That proved that music of SKIP RECORDS is appreciated in many, many countries. A No.1 album in the German jazzcharts and the first-time-ever German album cahrts for our releases were a nice reward for artists and staff.
The beginning of the new year will be dominated by some jazz releases, just in time for their march tours Tony Lakatos (with Billy Drummond & Axel Schlosser) and Karin Hammar (with Ingrid Jensen) will release their new albums, slightly before that we start the year with a new signing from Switzerland , the fantastic trumpet player Martin Dahanukar. Two fabulous female voices will complete the first half of the year. At the beginning of the year the longawaited album "Six String Call" by Barbara Lahr (known eg as voice of De Phazz) will be released, until summer we will also have the comeback album of Caro Josee with charismatic guests as Reiner Winterschladen on trumpet and Manusch Weiss on guitar.
Ready - steady - go !

Tingvall Trio - Vägen |
"Vägen" (The Way) retraces the trio's imprssions on the way taken over the last few years. "Sevilla", the opening track took birth on the extended tour of Spain in 2010 and "Shejk Schröder" (Schröder the Sheik) could easily provide the backdrop for a camel race. The title tune "Vägen" is one of those compositions, where you literally hear the stardust swirl, offering space for reflection and lookinginward at what was, what is and what jsut might come to pass. As the previous ECHO JAZZ AWARD winning album "Vattensaga" the album was once again recorded at the highly acclaimed Italian Arte Suono studio of Stefano Amerio. On "Efter Livet" (After Life) Martin Tingvall has also gingerly supllemented the "triophonics" with additional instrumentation by arranging string and horns like splashes of color.

Paula Morelenbaum - Agua |
"Agua" ist a collaboration of Paula Morelenbaum with the meanwhile 76 years old Brazilian pianist Joao Donato.Marked by a gossamer lightness, it documents an encounter between two artists who have influenced the musical development of their homeland in many ways. While Paula Morelenbaum comes from an environment closely bounced to Antonio Carlos Jobim, legend is that the world - famous guitarist Joao Gilberto evolved his rhythmic style after studying the way Donato plays piano. "La Morelenbaum" sings a number of classics from the songbook composed by Joao Donato, tunes later embellished by prominent lyricists such as Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso.

JARABEDEPALO - Y Ahora Que Hacemos ? |
On "Y Ahora Que Hacemos?" the band from Barcelona returns to powerful rock songs. The tracks deal with love and freedom as the first step in attaining happiness. Alongside a wonderful Spanish rendition of "Je l'aime a mourir" in a duet with Latin Grammy winner Alejandro Sanz the album contains several other illustrous partners to vocalize with: Joaquin Sabina, a greatly respected songwriter from Andalusia, the rebellious catalonian Antonio Orozco, as well as Carlos Tarque , the lead singer with the popular Rock band M Clan from Murcia. Jarabe De Palo has united vocalists from the north to the south of Spain on this album - a meaningful statement for the country's many 'local patriots'! A powerful return to a pop-rock sound with thumping drums, heavy bass, irreverent guitars and simply great tunes.

Omar Sosa - Calma |
"Calma"takes the listener along on a journey across 13 solo - improvisations, an interweave of jazz, ambient sounds and classical music. This time Sosa focuses on placing his notes sparingly rather than simply letting the creative juices flow creatinga comtemplative, reflective athmosphere. He plays a combination of concert grand and Fender Rhodes pianos, accented here and there with electronic effects and sampled sounds.

Andy P & Jideblaskos - Music & Movement |
"Music & Movement" is the second album of Andy P & Jideblaskos. Good old soulful music with stunning melodies and funky grooves that gets audiences up on their feet and moving. On "Fresh Groove" , the spark-spitting opener, Magnum Coltrane Price joins his brother-in-arms from the Funk Unit to supply razor-sharp vocals and it's hardly a surprise that Nils Landgren is on hand to spiff up "If Someone Wants To" with dazzling trombone work . "Hifi & Music" from Sweden even selected the album as one of its 10 Best in 2010.

Wolfgang Haffner - Along The Way - The Skip Years |
On "Along The Way" the creative evolution of Germanies top - drummer, producer , composer and arrangers through his four SKIP albums is retraced. Highlights of all productions with guest soloists like Roy Ayers, Bob James, Charlie Mariano, Till Brönner or Nils Landgren show the evolution from a German top studio musician to a global player of the jazz world.
