Born 1965 in Baku, Azerbaidjan, no one contests that David Gazarov is unique in the pool of the pianistically gifted.
Now a resident of Munich, Germany, Gazarov uses the range of Modernists from Bill Evans to Oscar Peterson as a solid frame of reference, although he is more than capable of interpreting these melodies from an updated perspective, lending them the swing and passion only a virtuoso can give.
In addition to encounters with such musicians as Niels Henning Örsted Pedersen, Buddy De Franco, James Morrison or the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, it's above all the many successful concerts at venues like the Montreux Jazz Festival or the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth which have marked the path of this exceptionally talented artist.
In December 1999 David Gazarov was awarded the prized State Promotional Grant for Artists of the State of Bavaria.
