Since the fall of 1999 SKIP RECORDS has set itself the goal of compiling a sophisticated catalog of music that convinces through consistently high artistic quality and outstanding recording technology.
It is intended that each release guarantees listeners that they have received a production that has been originally crafted and designed with painstaking, loving care. The seeds for the recordings are gathered from such widely varying sources as jazz, World Music, R & B and sophisticated pop. The predominant portion of the releases are their own productions, supplemented by a few well-chosen titles that have been licensed.
Bernd Skibbe functions as Managing Director and is in charge of A & R. He spent ten years as a member of the executive marketing team at WEA (Warner Music Germany), followed by two years during which he played a decisive role in the successes garnered by the jazz label Minor Music.
Sabine Bachmann, Managing Director and co-owner, has been actively in charge of the PR and marketing for various corporate business segments at Warner Bros. for many years. Since 1997 she has also headed the marketing consulting agency PRO·MOTION.
The series of productions of exceptional musical quality released until now featuring selectively signed SKIP artists has resulted in very positive feedback, both from the media and the listening public. This has been documented not least of all through rankings in the Jazz/World Music Charts in numerous countries. That makes the artists and us very happy, and motivates all of us as well.
